What’s it Like to Work at Centerboard?

“Whenever any issue comes up, [our team] gets to it right away. [The team’s] eyes and ears are open. Supervisors are always alert, making everyone feel safe.”
-Damien, during his new-hire check in.

“I have been working at Centerboard for 14 years. During this time, I have  grown professionally and personally thanks to the people who have been around me. What I love most about working at Centerboard is the conducive environment that exists within the organization. Although it is a workplace, there is a feeling of "belonging" regardless of whether we are engaging in a serious brainstorming session on how to keep residents/families safe, or we are playing kickball in the field on staff day. I have been around when we have lost staff, participants and stakeholders to illnesses, natural causes or accidents. What has been most impressive is how we all pull together and support one another during such times. People at Centerboard  genuinely care about each other. The fact that the organization has embraced diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work is another positive about working at Centerboard. I believe the commitment to DEI work has enabled us to come together regardless of our differences and work towards a common good- that of valuing each person as a human being regardless of how different they are from us.”

“I have been blessed to work for Centerboard for 17 years. I was 23 when I started at one of the Teen Parenting Programs part time. I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing staff that have taught me so much at many of the programs! Centerboard is always educating the staff and practicing "out of the box" methods to engage families and youth that we work with. The families always come first and the focus on empathy and being Trauma informed when working with the families and youth is something that I feel is really important in the work that I do. Working for Centerboard gives me the opportunity to help those that are in need in ways that will teach them to be self sufficient. Centerboard has helped to create who I have become as an adult. I have learned so many things about life from working here. Everyday is an opportunity to change your life and working for Centerboard I have that opportunity to try to help someone do just that...”
